The Museum of Everyday Life in Glover, Vermont had left this piano outside. The wood had weathered to grey, the keys had cracked and yellowed, the black keys scattered like kindling. A flash of red underneath — the only color left with any confidence.
Oliver Parini found it there and made this photograph. Something that once filled a room with sound, now silent in the rain and the cold. The keys can't play the way they used to. But look at what time has made of them.
There's a kind of beauty in things that have been used up and left. This image is about that.
